Brenntag’s New Online Customer Service Tool Calculates Chemical Products’ Carbon Footprint

CO2Xplorer on-demand, available for customers as a subscription service, is part of the company’s strategy to promote transparency about greenhouse gas emissions.

Brenntag, a global market leader in chemicals and ingredients distribution, has launched an online version of its CO2Xplorer for customers in Europe. The value-add service tool will be called “CO2Xplorer on-demand.”

The CO2Xplorer was developed to allow companies to assess and manage their carbon footprint more effectively and calculate CO2e emissions across the entire supply chain. While CO2Xplorer has been used by Brenntag internally to provide customers with comprehensive PCF data since December 2022, the new CO2Xplorer on-demand is a subscription service to be used directly by customers.

Ensuring Compliance with Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive

As pressure abounds to comply with environmental regulations such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive increases, officials say companies need reliable tools to ensure accurate carbon reporting. The CO2Xplorer on-demand is touted an intuitive, cost-effective, web-based platform that helps companies stay compliant with the evolving requirements.

How It Works

The CO2Xplorer enables users to calculate the environmental impact of their products based on the Life Cycle Assessment methodology, in compliance with Iso standard 14067:2018. The tool offers a certified solution for calculating Scope 3 CO2e emissions enabling companies to make more informed and sustainable decisions without the need for complex databases or external consultancy services. It also aims to eliminate the need for manual database management, streamlining the entire process and saving time. The easy-to-use tool is ideal for companies of all sizes that want to take control of their environmental impact while minimizing costs and effort.

“It’s a win-win for both businesses and the environment,” said CEO Ewout van Jarwaarde.
